The Youth Leadership Council (YLC) is designed to engage youth to become more involved in their future. Youth are trained to enter meaningful roles in the policy and decision making processes within the local Youth Workforce Development System, their schools, communities and places of employment. The program is operated on the principles of project based learning and assists youth with developing leadership and facilitation skills. Youth are full partners in the process.
The Youth Leadership Council’s mission is: “Having our voices heard, by providing information and taking action in the community to create a better image of youth.” They have established their purpose as “Changing people’s opinion about the youth by making a positive change in the community.”
