Sharlet Barnett
CEO of Arizona Center for Youth Resources
Sharlet Barnett Chief Executive Officer of Arizona Center for Youth Resources. Leads a team of 27 professionals dedicated to supporting youth through education, training, and workforce development opportunities across Phoenix and Maricopa County. Under her leadership, the organization serves more than 1,500 young people annually, helping them access pathways to employment and long-term success.
Sharlet brings nearly three decades of experience working with youth who face barriers to educational goals, young professionals, and community organizations. She began her career in youth development in 1996 and has remained deeply committed to advancing opportunities for marginalized youth. Since joining the organization in 2001, she has held several key roles that include Career Advisor, Program Manager, and Director of Workforce Development.
She earned her degree in Psychology from the University of Alaska Fairbanks in 1998, focusing her career on education and youth empowerment. Sharlet is actively engaged in advocacy efforts, collaborating with employers and local colleges to create career pathways and opportunities.
Sharlet is a Certified Workforce Development Professional since 2003 and is also trained in ICA Technology of Participation facilitation methods. She currently serves as a member of the Opportunities for Youth Leadership Council and the National League of Cities Reengagement Network.
